OneWalk. One Day. All Cancers. #OneWalkShoeSelfie

Cancer has cost us way too many lives already.  Gone are the days when cancer was believed to only strike smokers, or those of the older generation.  Today, we know better.  It doesn’t matter how old or young you are, if you’re male or female, and if you’re rich or poor.   It also doesn’t mean that you should sit back and wait for it to strike you or someone you love!  There is something you can do.  Early cancer detection means the prognosis for a complete remission is much improved.

Disclosure: I have been compensated to share this post.  The opinions on this blog are my own.

On September 12th, 2015 warriors will walk 25 kms through the streets of Toronto, united, knowing that together they are changing the future for all those affected by this terrible disease.

Everyday, over 500 Canadians will hear the words “I’m sorry, you have cancer” and their families, friends and co-workers will rally together and prepare for the fight of their lives. Cancer is a powerful foe, costing us precious time with those we love, affecting men and women of all ages.

In cancer research, one breakthrough is everyone’s breakthrough. One person’s fight is the battle we all take on.

The Shoppers Drug Mart OneWalk to Conquer Cancer benefiting Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is your opportunity to be part of a game-changing movement to conquer cancer.  We may be able to find a cure during OUR lifetime!  Money raised goes towards cancer research and care; you’ll be enabling world-leading clinicians and researchers to detect cancers earlier, diagnose with more precision, target treatment for each patient and support patients and their families throughout the cancer journey.

100% of all donations go directly and immediately to Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Proceeds from the event stay in our province and are invested in leading-edge cancer research, prevention and screening programs, as well as education, care and other cancer initiatives. In addition, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre pays for the costs of the event, most of which come from resources right here in Toronto.

When walkers register, they can select the cancer fund that matters to them:
– Breast Cancer
– Gynecologic Cancers – Uterine, Cervical, Ovarian, Vulvar Cancer
– Colon, Rectal and Gastrointestinal, Prostate,

Let’s walk together!

Cancer has taken several members of my family:  my Aunt, my Grandfather, my Grandmother, and several friends, co-workers, and acquaintances.  The truth is, cancer doesn’t just run in my family or yours.  Cancer can strike anyone, and does.

Let’s help the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre spread the work via social media through a OneWalk Shoe Selfie Twitter Party!  Please join the Twitter Party August 26, 2015 at 8pm EDT to show your support!

Let’s Celebrate Moms With P&G’s Newest #ThankYouMom Video #PGMom

P&G is celebrating all moms and everything they do to help raise athletes and great kids. P&G’s Thank You Mom has launched an inspiring video featuring Canadian Olympic heptathlete, Brianne Theisen-Eaton and her mom, Kim.  Brianne and her mom trust brands like Tide, Cascade, Dawn and Bounty to make sure they’re always competition ready.

Disclosure: I am a P&Gmom/mamanP&G. As part of my affiliation with this group I receive products and special access to P&G events and opportunities. The opinions on this blog are my own.

Check out the NEW Thank You Mom video

About Brianne:

Brianne continues to make her mark as one of Canada’s top track and field athletes. She competed in the London 2012 games and holds the Canadian record for heptathlon. She is a silver medallist from the 2013 World Championships and a pentathlon silver medallist from the 2014 World Indoor Championships. She is the first and only Canadian woman to podium in the multi-events at the World Championships. But in addition to sport, Brianne is also an avid home cook, a tradition passed down from her mom.   Brianne is counting down the days until she competes in the Pan Am Games.  I hope you’ll cheer her on!

My mom; currently fighting Alzheimer’s, has shared many tips with me over the years. Having a different background than most, she always talked to me about keeping financially safe.  Her main point was to always keep some money aside, even if  that means keeping it a secret from your spouse!  The whole idea was to ensure the woman’s safety … if her husband ever became abusive then she would have a way to escape!  Fortunately I’ve never had to escape from harm; however, I always took her words of wisdom to heart and kept a little safety money aside just in case.

I am definitely in a safe relationship so ‘escaping’ isn’t even a concern!  Thank goodness.  I can focus on living a happy, loving life – I do so to the best of my ability.  My focus is on my family: my spouse, daughter, and my two cats.  I’m a proud PGMom; however, I’ve been a loyal to the P&G Brand for years and years!

There are certain products that I really love:

Tide – Over the years, I’ve always used Tide.  Now, Tide Pods are my favourite! Convenient, easy, and so much easier to carry home!

COVERGIRL – I love Clump Crusher Mascara!  Seriously, no clumping.

Olay – The entire line is fantastic!  I start my make-up routine with Olay CC Cream. The perfect all-in-one product.

AlwaysAlways Infinity is super absorbent and flexible … definitely reliable.

CrestCrest Sensi Relief provides the sensitivity relief that I need.  I’ve always been a Crest-girl; I love how Crest is innovative … everyone can find their solution with Crest!

My list can go on (and does); however, the above products are my personal favourites.  Which P&G products are your favourite?

The Baby Event is Back! #PampersParty #PGMom

When it comes to shopping, you are a savvy mom looking for a store that has everything you need for baby, and the whole family. At participating retailers below, you can shop for quality food, baby necessities and at some locations, even clothes for the entire family! By choosing a retailer that offers everything in one place, you save time and have more time for the little ones.

Tips for making your shopping trips more efficient:
Can grocery shopping feel daunting? Check out these tips and tricks that can help you get the most out of your trips to the store.
1. Always go with a list.
Do you often find yourself aimlessly wandering around the grocery store, forgetting what you’re missing at home? By making a to-buy list you can target exactly what you need, allowing you to get in and get out. And, you can save money by only purchasing necessities!
2. Navigate the store like a pro
If you visit the same store each week, organize your list by aisles to save you from backtracking.
3. Schedule a shopping day
Pick one day a week and designate as your “shopping day”. This way everyone in the family knows to request the items they need before then, which will help you avoid multiple trips to the store.
4. Pick a store that has everything you need
Don’t waste time travelling, going from store to store. Instead, visit a store that meets all your needs – from food, to clothing to baby necessities like Pampers.
5. Look for specials & shopping events that’ll help you save
Visit Loblaws, Atlantic Superstore, Extra Foods, Your Independent Grocer, Zehrs Markets, Valu-mart or Real Canadian Superstore from October 10-23 for the baby event. The event includes exciting offers on all things baby to make shop

To help make shopping even more convenient, these participating retailers below are bringing back the baby event from October 10-23, offering promotions on all your baby needs, like Pampers.

I’m also excited to announce that PG will be hosting a Twitter party tomorrow (Thursday, October 16) from 8 p.m. – 9 p.m. Hosted by Lena and moderated by Alyssa, Nicole & Sheri Mcdonald, the #PampersParty will highlight how to maximize time with loved ones by being a smart mommy shopper AND will include fabulous prizes perfect for little ones. We hope to see you there!

RSVP here!

By the way, here are my great tips you can use:

– make a shopping list and stick to it; it will keep you from getting distracted and purchasing what you don’t need

– try to schedule your errands into one trip but arrange them according to the area you’ll be in; that’ll save time and money … especially gas!

– pick stores that carry everything; one stop shopping has really come a long way and you’ll find yourself saving precious time (who can put a price on that?)

– try to use shopping apps that will save you time and money … they usually show what’s on sale

– maximize savings by using coupons on items you need to purchase
