Stay Calm In Spite of #COVID-19 #CoronavirusPandemic #Coronavirus #COVID19

The current situation with the novel coronavirus: COVID-19 [recently updated to a global pandemic] will affect us all; one way or another.

The Toronto Public Health are asking us to get informed. Please visit their website or call 416-338-7600, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for more info: http://Toronto.ca/coronavirus

For right now, we are quite safe.  However, it would probably ease your mind to get educated on what to watch out for!

COVID-19 symptoms include:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Muscle aches and tiredness
  • Difficulty breathing

Less commonly: sore throat, headache and diarrhea have been reported.

Older patients and those with chronic medical conditions may be at higher risk for severe illness.

Coronaviruses can spread through droplets when a person who has the virus coughs or sneezes, similar to how the flu and other respiratory illnesses are spread.

Some viruses are highly contagious, while other viruses are less so. It’s not clear yet how easily COVID-19 spreads from person-to-person.

In general, everyday preventive actions can help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 15 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early and share your recent travel history with your health care provider

There are no specific treatments for coronaviruses, and there is no vaccine that protects against coronaviruses. Most people with common human coronavirus illness will recover on their own.

If symptoms feel worse than a standard cold, see your health care practitioner. They can relieve symptoms by prescribing a pain or fever medication.

You should also:

  • drink plenty of fluids
  • get rest and sleep as much as possible
  • try a humidifier or a hot shower to help with a sore throat or cough

If you plan on travelling abroad, the Government of Canada’s official source of destination-specific travel information is their website:  https://travel.gc.ca/  . It provides important advice to help travelers make informed decisions and travel safely while abroad. As this is a rapidly evolving situation, travelers should check the website and consult with their health care provider prior to travelling. You should also check for notices about the destination that you are travelling too:  located on their website too.

REMEMBER, in the end, the decision to travel is your choice and you are responsible for your personal safety abroad. Ensure you monitor the news while away, and remember that travellers should expect increased health screening measures at points of entry for international destinations, including airports. Local authorities may impose control measures suddenly, including movement restrictions such as quarantines.

If you are concerned that you have symptoms of COVID-19 such as fever, cough or difficulty breathing, contact your local Public Health Authority, for what to do next.

Pouch Couch Camping Hammock #hammock #ad

The POUCH COUCH Camping Hammock is surprisingly ultra light, multi-functional and compact.  In fact, it only weighs 821 grams which means it is light enough to take to the beach or camping, slip into backpacks, and take along when travelling.  In other words, it’s compact and portable.

Disclosure: I have been compensated to share this post. The opinions on this blog are my own.

Most people who know me KNOW that I am not an outdoorsy kind of gal.  It’s true.  However, I do enjoy time in my backyard and even some trips to a park or a beach every so often.  On those leisurely days I like to kick back and truly relax.  The POUCH COUCH Camping Hammock fits this need perfectly!Made from parachute nylon fabric the POUCH COUCH Camping Hammock is lightweight, very strong, and durable.  Since the material is breathable it is also fast-drying.  All of these characteristics make the POUCH COUCH Camping Hammock ideal. It even holds up to 400 lbs … this means that you can fit two average-sized people in it!  I personally didn’t try and discover if the hammock could hold 400 lbs but I can imagine that it would since the material does feel strong.POUCH COUCH shares these points about their Hammock:

I love how the hammock fits easily into the attached storage pouch.  The storage pouch won’t get lost and you won’t waste time looking for it!  It literally takes seconds to pack up the entire hammock, rope and carabiners (spring hooks) in to the pouch.  Set up of the hammock is just as quick!  Open the pouch, pop out the hammock, rope and carabiners (already attached to a rope that’s attached to the hammock) and set up is a snap. Find two trees that are approximately 10-15 feet apart and make sure the trees are large enough and are strong enough to hold your weight.  Keep in mind that the required distance between the two trees [10-15 ft] depends on the length of the hammock and how much tension you want.  The POUCH COUCH Camping Hammock comes with rope which is what you use to wrap securely around the two trees and knot them so they don’t come undone.  All that’s left is to hook the carabiners to the ropes ….  And enjoy hanging out!  When you’re relaxing in the hammock the attached storage pouch can be used as a pocket to hold small items like your cell or even some snacks!Lastly, the hammock is large enough to wrap completely around you so you end up looking like a pea pod.  This isn’t a bad thing necessarily.  The hammock material is silky soft so you will surely feel comfortable; however, the extra material can cover you to keep you warm, to block out winds, and to keep out flies and mosquitoes.  If you sit sideways you can stretch the material up so that it can support your head.  You’ll dangle your legs over the side but it is a comfortable way to sit.

Aside from using this hammock between two trees, there are other ways to use it as well.  You can attach hooks to your porch and use the hammock by just hooking the carabiners.  You can certainly use the hammock on a hammock stand.  What I plan on doing is getting my partner to put up two posts in our backyard so that I can securely hook the carabiners on them.  I’m certain that you will be able to come up with many more places to use the hammock.

I recommend the POUCH COUCH Camping Hammock. While it is inexpensive to purchase, it is also an excellent deal because many similar expensive hammocks aren’t as sturdy or durable!  I know I’ll be using mine for years to come.

THE Annual Bittersweet Sign That the End of Summer is Near. #LetsGoToTheEX #CNE #EX #ad

It’s THE annual bittersweet sign that the end of summer is near.  It’s a Toronto tradition that we always look forward to.  No need to ask me twice; I’m ready!  I’ve been going to the EX since I was little … we’re talking 5 decades !!

Disclosure: I have been compensated to share this post. The opinions on this blog are my own.

With so much to see and do at the EX, it’s difficult to pinpoint a single favourite activity.  You can pick from:

  • rides
  • games
  • shows
  • shopping
  • food
  • and so much more!

I always find the time to see the animals.  Who doesn’t enjoy watching the alpacas, llamas, piglets, chicks, calves, goat, and even turkeys?  I’ve learned to have patience while parents with their small children have rushed to get the best spot to look at the animals and potentially touch them.  I think (almost can guarantee) that I am more of a child than most children when it comes to animals.  I LOVE animals!  I could watch them all day long, and I always wish I could touch them.

Shopping at the EX is always fun.   When I take a little time to shop, I always try to do a walk-through the Shoppers’ Market, the Arts, Crafts & Hobbies Pavilion, the Marketplace, and the Warehouse Outlets [this is where I can do some serious damage to my wallet!].  There are many deals to be had … and many new products to discover too.

This year’s ‘Food to Try’ List is long and adventurous.  I’ll admit I’m not too adventurous when it comes to my food.  So while I thoroughly enjoyed seeing them pass in front of my eyes, I didn’t actually try any.  I’m not brave enough and I’m not embarrassed to say it.  I look forward to hearing my daughter’s opinion of them!  She definitely doesn’t have a problem trying new food; I can envision her trying a good chunk of this list.

2019 CNE New Foods:

Frozen Cookie Dough Spaghetti, Wasabi Spice Cream, Pickle Pizza, Pickle Lemonade, Tokyo Street Dog, Spicy Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Bacon Burger, Pho Fries, Unicorn Funnel Cake, Maple Bacon Churropop, Cheesecake Curds, Peeping Pierogi burger, BBQ Chicken Hearts, Mushroom Coffee, Japanese Soufflé Pancakes, Japanese Soufflé Pancakes, Funnel Cake Chicken Sandwich, Smouldering Fire & Ice Bowl, Gluten-Free Viet Burrito, Deep Fried Avocados Tacos, Dragon Fruit Lemonade üsensation, and Haggis Macaroni & Smoked Cheese

What’s special to note, this year, is that you can look forward to the 70th annual Canadian International Air Show!  It’s FREE with admission. You can read all about the CIAS one the CNE‘s website; however, the essential point, as CNE explains: “It’s now the largest and longest running Air Show in Canada with more a million people throughout the Greater Toronto Area watching the spectacular aerial display each year.”   In my opinion, it’s the Grand Finale to the Finale of the CNE and of summer.

There are only a few days left to visit the CNE so stop reading this post and GO !!!

Once again, Thank You CNE for sending me!
