PetSafe Canada Pet Toy #Giveaway #PetSafeCanada #ad

The world has completely changed for everyone. This statement hold true even for our beloved fur-babies. If you follow us on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook, you’ve probably enjoyed all the pictures that have been shared over the years.

Disclosure: I have been compensated to share this post. The opinions on this blog are my own.

Unfortunately, the pictures don’t account for how our fur-babies are feeling, how they’re reacting to all of the changes they’re witnessing, or to the high levels of anxiety that they’re absorbing. They can sense how we’re feeling even if they don’t understand.

In order to keep our babies on the healthier side, we try to keep Josie, Jasper Jr., and Jacob as active as possible for indoor cats. How does one stimulate their animals’ minds when your own mind is in “stunned” mode? Well, at least that’s how we’ve been feeling since COVID19 started! Our good friends at PetSafe Canada gifted our three babies with two new cat toys to help keep them physically active and mentally stimulated.

At first, their reactions were a mix of confusion, curiosity, fear and excitement. I’m not certain who had more fun with they toys? The cats or us?

PetSafe® Peek-a-Bird™ Electronic Cat Toy – has two play modes: one-time play or play-all-day. Jacob absolutely has fallen in love with this one! He loves it so much that he rarely allows his siblings to play along. He’s even learned how to pull on the feathers until he can bite on them while he brings the entire toy from room to room in search of one of us to turn the toy on for him!! We’ve had many laughs with this.

PetSafe® Dancing Dot™ Laser Cat Toy – also has two play modes: one-time play or play-all-day. With this toy you can place it on a flat surface or hang it from a doorknob. No need to worry; this laser is completely safe! All three of our babies enjoy this toy. The random patterns keep them active and entertained.

Over the years, our Josie has packed on the weight because she’s a nervous one. She eats her emotions! Josie came to us already with typical signs of an anxious cat. It took us a long time to help her cut down on all of her anxious licking. We knew we were successful because all of her patches of missing fur grew back. Jasper Jr. has an issue with Josie and is always chasing after her. He must have too much energy and Josie ends up paying for it. In the end, she eats to soothe herself. Poor Jacob just sits back to watch in confusion.

It’s not easy to keep one cat on a feeding schedule; let alone all three!

PetSafe® Canada has helped us with tackling this difficulty. They graciously gifted us with a fantastic solution!

The PetSafe® Smart Feed Automatic Pet Feeder helps to control, monitor, and schedule feedings. The best part is that I can do all of it easily through their app on my Smartphone. I can schedule up to 12 feedings per day, dispensing from 1/8 cup up to as much as 4 cups per meal. That means both cats and dogs benefit from all of these feeding options.

I love the Slow Feed Setting for Josie because it dispenses meals in smaller amounts over 15 minutes. That means that she’ll no longer devour her feeding in 10 seconds or less!

It’s my belief that I benefit the most (no doubt here) because the Smart Feed Automatic Pet Feeder holds 24 cups of dry food. I can literally dump in an entire bag of dry cat food and not have to worry about the plastic seal of the bag closing properly, or the fact that the bag was torn when I first opened it, or even worrying about spilling the bags’ contents! YAY for me! Can I get a “YAY” from the pet parents who understand me?

I can schedule the times and amounts of the feedings through the app on my smartphone. After each feeding, I receive feeding alerts on my cell. These are notifications that confirm that the scheduled feeding was completed. The Smart Feed Automatic Pet Feeder will even alert me when it’s time to refill the food chamber. NICE!!

Do you know what that meant for us? We finally cleared away the dishes of dry food from the main floor and set up the PetSafe® Smart Feed Automatic Pet Feeder in the basement. It’s conveniently set up close to where we store the bags of dry cat food. We lovingly refer to it as our official Feeding Station! No more up and down the stairs for feeds! I haven’t been this giddy in a very long time.

Thank you so much PetSafe® Canada.

The Benefits of #mixedfeeding #Giveaway CAN 19/08

THIS GIVEAWAY HAS ENDED

For several weeks my Furbabies have been participating in a mixed feeding pet food program sponsored by Whiskas.

Jesse is a senior and faces senior challenges.  His gums are very sensitive (gingivitis), and he has lost a couple of teeth.  He even has a broken tooth.  Suffice it to say eating isn’t easy for him.

Josie is a teenager and has her own challenges.  Having been a rescue at such a young age, she fears when her next meal will be, so when she eats she does so as if she’ll never be fed again.

Jesse Jr. is a 2 month old rambunctious kitten, with lots of energy to spare.  He too is a very young rescue, and eats everything in sight.  He’s still growing, and he has kitten teeth, and a kitten tummy that we have to be careful with.  He refuses his kitten food, and has joined his new big brother and big sister in partaking in the mixed feeding pet food program.

*Can my kitten eat WHISKAS® Dry Adult Food?

No. Our WHISKAS® Adult Dry Cat Food has been formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Cat Food Nutrient Profiles for adult cat maintenance only. We have a kitten formula in our dry line (WHISKAS® Kitten with Chicken) that delivers great taste and that is specially formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Cat Food Nutrient Profiles for All Life Stages.*

Both dry and wet food have their benefits.

Dry food is super convenient, economical, and great for oral care.    Wet food has less calories per gram, encourages water intake, and is easier for seniors and kittens to chew.

If your cats aren’t already on a mixed feeding program, it might take a little while to introduce it to their regular routine; however, once on the mixed feeding you’ll discover that they are happy with the taste, texture, and variety.

Satiety, humidity, and ease of feeding are my goals in a mixed feeding program.  Taste, and texture meets healthy, and happy … what more could I want for my babies?

All three of my furbabies are very happy with their feeding routine.  Of course, they absolutely love their wet food (I’m guessing it’s because it more closely resembles the food they would naturally choose); however, they happily crunch on their dry kibble too.  I look at it this way:  I love my mashed potatoes but I really enjoy crunchy French fries too!  Isn’t great to be able to have both?  Wouldn’t it get boring to always have the same thing?

Enjoying a #mixedfeeding Pet Food Program

As an animal lover, an avid cat lover, and cat owner to (now) three cats, I am very careful about choosing what is best to feed my Furbabies.  What exactly is a mixedfeeding pet food program?
A regular mixed feeding diet of both dry and wet food for dogs and cats is the best way to keep your pet happy and healthy. Though both types of food are nutritionally balanced and complete, each offer unique and complementary health benefits. Dry food is a concentrated energy source, and its crunchy texture helps maintain our pet’s oral health, while wet food’s high moisture content supports proper organ function and a healthy urinary tract.

Mixed feeding is super easy – as long as you are feeding your pet both at least once a week, you are mixed feeding correctly! So that means mixed feeding is easy and healthy – and pets love it! Both my Jake and Josie were selected to participate in a month long mixed feeding program.  Jasper Jr.  joined our family well after the program started but (trust me) he joined in immediately after being introduced into our household.

Did you know?

Mixed feeding provides your pet with a welcome variety of taste & texture. Other benefits include.

Benefits of Wet Food

1. Wet food encourages water intake. High moisture content helps support a healthy urinary tract especially in cats and small dogs.

2. Wet food contains less calories per gram than dry food.

3. Wet food is closer in texture to the food that dogs or cats would naturally choose. Maybe this explains why they seem to enjoy it so much!

4. Wet foods deliver a variety of tastes and textures.5Soft texture is easy for puppies, kittens and senior animals to chew

Benefits of Dry Food

1. Dry food is a concentrated source of nutrition and energy

2. Chewing the crunchy kibble helps support oral care health

3. Dry food is usually less expensive than wet on a $/kg basis

4. Serving dry food is convenient – a bowl of Dry can be left out all day without the risk of it drying out or going stale
