Proudly Celebrate #NationalPetParentsDay #ChurchAndDwight

It’s hard to deny the love a pet owner has for their fur-babies.  I know exactly how I feel about my four babies!

From an endless supply of treats to belly rubs and a basket full of toys, our “fur babies” are spoiled.  It’s not always a walk in the park – there’s the shedding, the “picking up” and the trips to the vet. That’s why, it’s time to celebrate National Pet Owner’s Day – a day that honours all of the loving and dedicated pet parents out there.
If you’re a loyal and loving pet parent to a Fido or Fluffy, here are a few tips for appreciating all that you do for your pet:IMG_08151. Find a product that gets rid of Fido’s footprints and funky smells forever. Even the most loving pet owners will admit that animals bring smells, dust, dirt and a lot of hair into the home. Arm & Hammer™ Plus OxiClean™ Carpet & Room Odour Eliminator – Pet Fresh, will make your job easier and leave pet areas smelling fresh! It helps to release pet odours deep within carpets and loosens pet hairs, helping to lift up to 25 per cent more dirt than vacuuming alone.

2. Give back with a spa day. Fido’s day at the spa is one way to extend the life of your favourite piece of furniture. Make sure the spa visit includes a nail clipping – no more scratching at your brand new sofa.

3. Make #litterboxlife a little easier. There’s nothing worse than having to scrape the litter from the corners. Am I right? Today’s the day to switch to Arm & Hammer™ Clump and Seal™ Slide™ Cat Litter, which has a patented formula with “EZ Clean Technology” that helps stuck on messes slide out easily. Plus it delivers a 7-day odour-free home – guaranteed! No scrubbing, no scraping, no odour – no problem! IMG_07914. Let your fur baby have a sleepover. It might be hard to spend time away from your furry friend, but sometimes a night off is needed. Phone a friend who has always offered to pet sit for a weekend and finally take them up on the offer!

5. How about a little one on one time with your fur baby? Record your time together.  Take pictures, and lots of them!

Have you ever celebrated National Pet Owner Day? What did you do with your fur baby to celebrate?  Tell me all about it.  Seriously, leave me a comment with all the details.

Brighter Whiter Smiles #ChurchAndDwight

National Oral Health Care month acts as the perfect annual reminder that it’s important to pay special attention to our teeth and our overall oral hygiene, which can have a tremendous impact on our overall health.

Did you know that poor oral health can lead to gum disease, which left untreated can lead to the loss of teeth… do I need to go on?

IMG_0813To get you started on the path towards a brighter, whiter smile, I suggest the following tips:

For the kids:
Children often look at mom and dad as role models, so make sure you lead by example and talk to them about the importance of taking care of their teeth and gums!
– Suggest using a timer or a song to ensure that the kiddies are brushing for as long as they’re supposed to. You can even make it a family activity by doing it all together.
– Give your kiddos a bonus for brushing. A sticker chart that keeps track of their brushing habits is a great way to give them an incentive to brush.
– Introduce a toothpaste and brush that features one of your kids favourite characters – such as the Orajel™ Spiderman™ and My Little Pony™ Anticavity Fluoride Toothpaste and the Kids Spinbrush™ My Little Pony™ Battery Toothbrush. It keeps things exciting while practicing healthy habits!

I used to get my daughter to sing a song, in her head while she brushed.  When she finished the entire song, she could rinse.

For adults:
Make sure you’re brushing and flossing at least twice a day to achieve optimal oral health.
– The Canadian Dental Association recommends replacing your toothbrush or toothbrush head every three months or sooner if it becomes worn, for an optimal clean.
– Use a battery-powered toothbrush with sonic pulsating action. For example, the new
Arm & Hammer™ Sonic Pulse Battery Toothbrush is clinically proven to remove 2X more plaque versus a manual toothbrush. This toothbrush has a slim, ergonomic handle, and comes with a replaceable head and battery!

– If you can’t resist desserts and candy, pay attention! Foods that contains a lot of sugar can stain your teeth and soften tooth enamel. I recommend Arm & Hammer™ Truly Radiant™ Clean & Fresh™ Toothpaste for enamel safe whitening and lasting freshness plus it prevents tartar build up!

This month make it your goal to wear a smile you’re proud of. How are you practicing good oral health habits?  I’ve purchased  new travel size toothbrushes to replace our current ones … you know, it’s the ones we carry with us wherever we go; such as school and work.  There’s nothing wrong with brushing after eating lunch.

Happy Cat With #ArmAndHammerSlide #LitterBoxLife #ad

Owning a cat doesn’t mean it’s easy to understand him.  As a responsible pet owner, you do your best to keep your cat happy and healthy but there is one are that often ends up being a problem.

Disclosure: I have been compensated to share this post. The opinions on this blog are my own.

Let’s face it, the litter environment can be viewed as a problem.  It can be a problem especially if your fur-baby decides not to use it!Understanding the importance of the litter box is essential, if we want our cats to remain happy, New Arm & Hammer™ Clump & Seal™ Slide™ Cat Litter was developed so that you can have an easy clean-up.

Solid clumps with heavy-duty odour eliminators is great; however, the EZ Clean Technology formula renders your cats’ litter to easily slide right out of the box … with no scraping, scrubbing, or odour!  Now that’s fabulous! As mommy to 4 cats, this is exactly the kind of help I need.  Do you realise how often I have to clean my litter boxes?  Often.  Very often.

Since cat behaviour issues arise surrounding litter usage; or lack thereof, many cats end up being surrendered to shelters!  Can you believe it?!  The majority of the time it’s not your cat’s fault!  Do you clean the litter box often enough?

Did you know?

  • you should have one litter box for each cat, plus one more
  • scoop litter 1 to 2 times daily
  • every 30 days you should change the litter
  • cats prefer uncovered boxes, so as to give them the sense/ability to escape quickly if feeling threatened
  • cats actually do need some light at night – try leaving a night-light for them

In my opinion, often one can use common sense and apply it to each cat in order to deal with perceived behavioural issues.  All my cats are rescue cats so behaviour often stems from before they came into our house.

Recently, I received an invitation to attend ‘Breaking the Cat Code’ Discussion with internationally acclaimed cat behaviourist Mieshelle Nagelschneider.  I was thrilled and instantly accepted the invite.  Being able to get insights and tips from a cat behaviourist is exactly what I needed.  Jasper Jr. has been attacking Josie since day one, and after trying:

  • food puzzles
  • pheromone treatment
  • introduction of a cat tree
  • new toys

and even …

  • a new cat (one that is close to his age)

Nothing has stopped him from attacking Josie!

And so, on March 22, 2017 I got to meet Mieshelle in a small group setting and was able to get a few of my questions answered.  I received confirmation that I was just in my attempts at remedying my cat’s behaviour.  Fortunately, she was able to offer a few more suggestions that I hadn’t yet thought of.  In particular, a stationary 5-level food puzzle!  I think this just might do the trick!  I’ll be purchasing one shortly and implementing the suggestion as soon as possible. As cat owners, we need to understand our cats’ natural ‘wild cat’ instincts.  Cats may be aggressive for a variety of reasons; such as:

  • stress
  • boredom
  • hierarchy

The reality is, our cats need mental and physical stimulation.  Our cats, like the wild cat, demand freshness in water, food, and litter.  Their instincts tell them that their food/water contain bacteria and the same goes for their litter.  In the wild, predators track cats by their use of certain sites (where they choose to relieve themselves) … if they’re smelly, it’s even easier.  By understanding our cats’ natural instincts, we learn that if our cat isn’t using their litter box it might not be a bad behaviour after all!

Keep yourself happy alongside your kitties.  Try New Arm & Hammer™ Clump & Seal™ Slide™ Cat Litter!  You’ll discover when changing the litter box that the litter will slide right out.
