What a Wafer! #LoackerCanada #FaceOfLoacker #PureGoodness #giveaway #ad

Recently I received a package of pure goodness.  This pure goodness was unexpectedly yummy, and now I have a newfound love for a great wafer!

Disclosure: I have been compensated to share this post. The opinions on this blog are my own.

As a child, I had been given wafers to eat as a snack, and as a dessert.  However, I NEVER enjoyed them.  It didn’t matter if they were chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry because they all tasted bland and paper-like.  This is the truth and I can’t say otherwise.

You can imagine how concerned I was to have been offered to review wafers!  It was the variety of flavours that peaked my interest so I agreed to give them a try.  Am I ever happy that I did!!

I was introduced to a brand that has been in existence since 1925 … I actually had never heard of them … over the years, Loacker grew from a small regional confectioner to the globally known brand of today.  In my opinion, Loacker doesn’t just make wafers!  Oh it’s much more like premium pastry.  [Visit https://www.loacker.com/ca/en/company/about-us/ to learn more about Loacker.]

Are you a chocolate lover?  You are in for a flavourful experience that you’ll never forget!  Loacker’s Double Chocolate wafers are IT!  Loacker covered their popular wafer classics in delicious chocolate. Underneath, there are light, crispy wafers and two layers of melting cream filling. Classic Chocolat is available in two delicious varieties. Chocolat Napolitaner is covered with the finest milk chocolate and smooth cream filling made with exquisite Italian hazelnuts, freshly roasted on-site at Loacker. Chocolat Dark Noir Fondente is enrobed with dark chocolate and a refined dark chocolate cream filling. Who can resist?  Not I.

Fancy vanilla?  Loacker’s vanilla is elevated and refined.  In fact, during product manufacturing Loacker continues to cut their vanilla pods by hand.  “The precious Planifolia Bourbon vanilla pods from Madagascar are the only type of vanilla used for the production of Loacker products. This top quality species is known for its purity without additives.”  … and with no addition of flavourings.

Loacker is dedicated to excellence:  no colourings, no preservatives, and no hydrogenated fats.

Don’t think for a moment that their flavour options end there.  No way!  There are too many flavours for me to list and describe.  Their list of flavours, combinations, and shapes can be found at https://www.loacker.com/ca/en/products/product-category/relcategory/world-of-wafers/

What I can say is, from the selection of flavours that were sent to me I found it difficult to pick a favourite.  I was stupefied to discover that I loved them all!  I will even say that I now love wafers … but only if they’re Loacker!  Total YUM!!

Celebrating Pure Goodness and Canadian Classics:

To celebrate the best ingredients nature has to offer, Loacker has created ten recipes inspired by iconic Canadian desserts and Canada’s favourite flavours. These indulgently delicious recipes are easy to prepare, so that Canadians can share a moment of pure goodness and serenity with their loved ones.

  • Nanaimo Bars: Chocolate wafer biscuits are flaked into the crust of this quintessential west coast dish, adding even more of the flavour Canadians know and love!
  • Maple Sugar Bars: Canadian through-and-through, this recipe adds maple and a light wafer crunch to the classic tarte au sucre.
  • S’mores Brownies: Inspired by summer at the cottage, layers of marshmallow, crisp wafer biscuits and chocolate combine for this take on a nostalgic treat – no campfire necessary!

Summer Hasn’t Ended Yet! #CanadasWonder #YukonStriker #ad

It’s crazy how we’re half way through summer; however, that doesn’t mean that summer has ended!  We still have plenty of time to cross a few things off of our “To Do” lists so let’s get focused.

Disclosure: I have been compensated to share this post. The opinions on this blog are my own.

Canada’s Wonderland, just outside of Toronto, each summer has been a must for my daughter (now 21 years old).  The park is situated on 300 acres, with more than 200 attractions including 16 roller coasters, two children’s areas and a 20-acre water park Splash Works.

Before proceeding, let’ s get one something clear:

  • I am afraid of heights.
  • I don’t like rides.
  • I am afraid of high speed.
  • I don’t like soaring through the air.
  • I don’t like to be flipped and tossed around.

So why would I enjoy Canada’s Wonderland?  Simply put, it’s for everyone!  While I don’t enjoy rides, it doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t visit at all.  There’s so much to do, see, experience, and enjoy at Canada’s Wonderland … it really provides great family fun!

The 2019 Season welcomed Yukon Striker ~ the world’s longest, fastest, and tallest dive roller coaster, and Canada’s first dive coaster.

As per Canada’s Wonderland:

“Yukon Striker promises an exhilarating journey along its 3,625 feet of mountainous track where guests will be treated to a spectacular view stretching to the Toronto skyline. The coaster features a ‘hold and dive’ element where riders will literally be hanging on the edge of their seats, on one of three wide, floorless trains, breathlessly awaiting the 90-degree, 245-foot drop. Once released, the coaster dives from zero to 130 kilometres per hour straight down into an underwater tunnel before soaring up over steel track, propelling riders through four dynamic inversions and gravity-defying weightlessness. Designed by Bolliger & Mabillard, Yukon Striker will claim several world records:

  • The fastest dive coaster at 130 km/h (80 mph);
  • The longest dive coaster at 3,625 feet (1,105 m);
  • The tallest dive coaster at 245 feet (75 m) – includes underground.”

Ride Stats:

Height of drop: 245 feet (75 metres) *includes underground tunnel
Top Speed: 130 km/h (80 mph)
Inversions: 4
Length: 3,625 feet (1,105 metres)
Duration: 3 minutes, 25 seconds
Trains: 3
Riders per Train: 24

Whew!  I’m just happy that I didn’t have to ride this crazy dive coaster!  While my daughter and her boyfriend had a blast on the Yukon Striker and many of the other thrilling rides, my partner and I either walked around, cooled off in the water park, or enjoyed a hot dog (ok, ok … or two).  After a few hours, we met up with the “kids” and explored more of the park together.

As a family that includes an adult child, it’s often difficult to find fun things to do together.  Adult children have minds of their own, which means they have their own views on everything, they have jobs and therefore their own schedules, and they frequently have a girlfriend or boyfriend.  We embrace our daughter’s boyfriend as a member of the family, and often refer to him as “son” and even “son-in-law”.

[It’s probably because our family is small to begin with.]

I know we enjoyed our day at Canada’s Wonderland and are looking forward to our next time.  These are just a few pictures so you can have an idea about our day:

So now what I’d like to know is have you had a chance to enjoy your summer?  Have you gone to Canada’s Wonderland this summer?

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas and #Giveaway #LoveHallmarkCA #myhallmark #ad

Spring has definitely arrived! The birds are chirping, the snow has melted, and Easter has just passed us by.  Now, Mother’s Day will soon be here so I’d like to offer you some wonderful gift idea selections from Hallmark Canada, aside from their beautiful Hallmark cards!

Disclosure: I have been compensated to share this post. The opinions on this blog are my own.

There are so many ways to honour your mother and anyone that is a mother-figure in your life.  Mother’s Day is actually celebrated, around the world, on different dates and for different reasons.  North America celebrates it on the second Sunday in May.

Spring 2019 Greeting Cards

On a personal note my Mother has already passed on; however, I will honour her in a different way and on my own time.  I miss her terribly and I wish she were still here. For those of you who no longer have a Mother (for a variety of reasons) may choose to honour a Mother figure, friends’ that are Mothers, or to skip the whole celebration altogether. That’s totally acceptable!

Spring 2019

For those of you that choose to celebrate the day, here is just a small selection of:

  • gifts for mom including a beautiful frame, mug, and candle
  • the NEW Snug-a-Loves Plush that is great for little ones at Easter or even to tuck into mom’s gift!
  • NEW gift bags and coordinating tissue
  • an assortment of Mother’s Day cards including Hallmark Signature, Paper Wonder, vacuum-sealed ittybittys, and NEW kids’ interactive cards including stickers & paints!

NOTE:  all Easter themed greeting cards were already shared on my Instagram, Twitter and Facebook channels and will not be included in this post.

P.S. I have a GIVEAWAY up on my Instagram page!  Winner will be selected and contacted via my Instagram page.
