What’s the difference between children’s Motrin and Infant Motrin?
Children’s MOTRIN® Liquids are less concentrated than Concentrated MOTRIN® Infants’ Drops. The Children’s MOTRIN® Liquids have been specifically designed for use with the enclosed measuring cup. The OTC dosing: the recommended dose is 7.5mg/kg every 6-8 hours.

Can you give Motrin to infants under 6 months?
Age of child: Do not use ibuprofen in children who are less than 6 months old unless your child’s doctor tells you to. This is because it has not been found to be safe in children less than 6 months old. The use of the medicine in children less than 6 months is also not approved by the FDA.
What age can babies have Motrin?
Infants’ Motrin Concentrated Drops is used for children who are six to 23 months old. If your child is younger than 6 months, ask their doctor if Infants’ Motrin Concentrated Drops is safe for them.
Can infants take children’s Motrin?
Ibuprofen can be safely given to infants and children over the age of 6 months for fever, pain, or discomfort. Do not give ibuprofen for longer than 72 hours without discussing your child’s condition with our office.
Why is infant Motrin more concentrated?
Babies may not be able to swallow a large amount of medicine. So, ibuprofen for infants is more concentrated than ibuprofen for children. Ibuprofen for children contains 100 mg per 5 mL (20 mg per mL). This medicine is for 2- to 11-year-old children who weigh 24 to 95 pounds (10.9 to 43.1 kg).
Is Motrin good for teething babies?
In babies more than 6 months old, Motrin is also an option for teething pain relief. Tylenol is often recommended as the first line of defense since you can give it to younger babies and Motrin may cause an upset stomach in some kids.

Can I give my 2 month old Tylenol?
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommend consulting a pediatrician before giving Tylenol or other acetaminophen-based drugs to babies under 3 months old. Tylenol can harm the liver, and the difference between a safe dose and a potentially dangerous one is relatively small.
Why can’t infants have Motrin until 6 months?
The six-month threshold was chosen because this is the age limit where many prescribers avoid using ibuprofen citing the lack of OTC labeling for this age group.
