I’m overweight [obese really] and definitely not fit; however, that doesn’t mean that I’m not trying! I’m 50 years old ~ugh!~ and I’ve gone through some difficult experiences over the past several years but now I’m feeling better, stronger, and even hopeful … for change.
Disclosure: I have been compensated to share this post. The opinions on this blog are my own.
I have never professed to be ‘in shape’ or even ‘put together’ but I have made some changes to my life so that I can get onto the path to be healthier. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to get back to what I once was but I think I owe it to myself to try. Even though I’m 50, the truth is I don’t know if I will live to be 100! The best thing to do is to focus.
Since January, and up until my recent trip to Vancouver, I had been routinely exercising on my treadmill and I was eating pretty healthfully. Like everyone (I suppose), I got sidetracked with my vacation. You know how it is? Friends and family want you to come have a drink and/or meal to celebrate the fact that you’re together again, you go see this or go see that and BAM there’s an ice cream shop! Damn it. What are you going to do? I say: “it’s ok to slack off or else you won’t be able to enjoy the moment”. Now that I’m back it’s time to get back on track! I’m not going to beat myself up about a pound … or two … or three … or whatever! There’s no point in being hard on myself and it’s not going to be positive at all. I’m going to embrace the break and accept it as having been a positive, re-energizing experience that I so desperately needed … and I’m going to embrace the hard work I’m going to have to do to get to a healthier weight.
There isn’t an agenda. I’m not trying to get to size zero. I’ve been a size zero and it wasn’t healthy, good, or glamorous. I need to reduce my weight for my heart, my back, and my overall health.
It’s sad actually. There are many that don’t have to worry about their weight, nor do they have to struggle. Then there are many that struggle with their weight … whether it be to gain weight or to lose weight. It’s a constant battle! I’ve struggled with my weight all of my life, and it feels like I’ve been every size there is!!! I know that’s not true but I have been every size from zero to eighteen! I believe I’ve been every one of those sizes twice! I remember seeing my mom struggle with her weight too. Perhaps it’s genetics? Perhaps it has to do with anxiety or depression? Whatever it is doesn’t change the fact that I have to make changes! Somehow I have to make progress.
One thing I don’t have to compromise is my comfort. That’s important you know! I rely on my SKECHERS to give me the cushioning protection I need. The SKECHERS Ultra Flex – First Take shoe is a slip on sporty comfort walking and training sneaker with an air-cooled memory foam insole, and an Ultra Flex midsole (a highly flexible comfort midsole with superior impact cushioning protection and remarkable energy return). I take my SKECHERS with me on every trip I go on.
As you can see for yourself, British Columbia had no idea that Jeannine was about to hit them hard with style, comfort, and class! I wore my SKECHERS everywhere because I need comfort because of my lower back issues, and because I need style

On this trip out West I also took my SKECHERS Apparel – Nite Owl™ Activate Packable Windbreaker Jacket. It’s very handy to fold up your jacket into front welt pocket … basically converting into a fanny pack! It’s also handy that it’s water-resistant fabric to help keep you dry, and that the polka dot print is reflective (this keeps you safe if you decide to go for a walk/jog/run at night). While this windbreaker jacket is especially perfect for travel, it’s also awesome for use right here in my beloved Toronto & GTA!

For those that follow me, you know about my love for SKECHERS. For those that happened to come across this post, you should know that SKECHERS is one brand that I really stand behind. It’s affordable, fresh, innovative, caters to a variety of needs, seasons and styles all the while providing support and comfort.
With SKECHERS, you can’t go wrong.
