The life of a mom with a teenager is very different from the life of a mom of young children. The infamous “I’m bored.” statement is commonplace and occurs daily. All day, actually. I am not ashamed to say that I have used TV as a sitter in the past. Today TV has become a God send. You know the deal: I’m busy, you’re busy, everyone is busy! These days no one has the time or patience to properly parent. Heck, even when you do find some time it’s often spent on the couch, in a vegetative state, sort of watching TV.
Disclosure: I have been compensated to share this post. The opinions on this blog are my own.
Is it fair? No. Is it reality? Sadly, often it is. This is exactly why I love Netflix! I’m not saying it’s a replacement for parenting…not at all! What I am saying is that it is a great way to find a common ground. A way to stay in the same room with your rebellious teenager and watch something together. A way to open up communication or a facsimile.
With Halloween approaching, my teen won’t be going out trick-or-treating. Instead, her and her friends will stay in and bake cookies. They can gobble them up while watching Netflix.
This autumn, get your teens watching:
