Year after year, P&G proudly sponsors our Canadian Olympic athletes. You’ve probably seen these heartwarming videos in the past, they’ve been known to draw a tear or two from mothers all over the country.

This year’s video titled “Strong”, which launched on April 27, 2016.
The short films are some of the most viewed Olympic Games videos of all time and “Strong” builds on that tradition of storytelling, with a fresh new take on the pivotal role moms plays in their kids’ lives.
This year, for the first time, P&G brands are revealing “The Global Mom Report,” offering new insights about what it means to be a mom in today’s world. Among findings in the report:
- After becoming a mom, women said they appreciated their own mothers more, recognizing her patience (54%), empathy (42%) and emotional strength (41%)
- 86% of mothers want their children to feel their presence and the impact of their parenting even when they can’t be together
In my opinion, these findings are true. It was only after I became a mom that I realized just how much my mother loved me, how much she gave of herself to me, and how much she sacrificed for me. It was only after having my own child that I appreciated everything that my mother did for me.
When my daughter expressed interest in swimming, I made sure I enrolled her in swimming classes. Personally, I don’t know how to swim and am frightened of water so allowing my daughter to go in the water was very frightening. Every week for many weeks, over several years, I took my daughter to her swimming classes. I watched every stroke and was in awe to see her progression. She was amazing! I was, and am still, so very proud of my daughter.
I hope that one day my daughter will experience motherhood. Perhaps then she’ll realize just how much I love her.
