OneWalk. One Day. All Cancers. #OneWalkShoeSelfie

Cancer has cost us way too many lives already.  Gone are the days when cancer was believed to only strike smokers, or those of the older generation.  Today, we know better.  It doesn’t matter how old or young you are, if you’re male or female, and if you’re rich or poor.   It also doesn’t mean that you should sit back and wait for it to strike you or someone you love!  There is something you can do.  Early cancer detection means the prognosis for a complete remission is much improved.

Disclosure: I have been compensated to share this post.  The opinions on this blog are my own.

On September 12th, 2015 warriors will walk 25 kms through the streets of Toronto, united, knowing that together they are changing the future for all those affected by this terrible disease.

Everyday, over 500 Canadians will hear the words “I’m sorry, you have cancer” and their families, friends and co-workers will rally together and prepare for the fight of their lives. Cancer is a powerful foe, costing us precious time with those we love, affecting men and women of all ages.

In cancer research, one breakthrough is everyone’s breakthrough. One person’s fight is the battle we all take on.

The Shoppers Drug Mart OneWalk to Conquer Cancer benefiting Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is your opportunity to be part of a game-changing movement to conquer cancer.  We may be able to find a cure during OUR lifetime!  Money raised goes towards cancer research and care; you’ll be enabling world-leading clinicians and researchers to detect cancers earlier, diagnose with more precision, target treatment for each patient and support patients and their families throughout the cancer journey.

100% of all donations go directly and immediately to Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Proceeds from the event stay in our province and are invested in leading-edge cancer research, prevention and screening programs, as well as education, care and other cancer initiatives. In addition, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre pays for the costs of the event, most of which come from resources right here in Toronto.

When walkers register, they can select the cancer fund that matters to them:
– Breast Cancer
– Gynecologic Cancers – Uterine, Cervical, Ovarian, Vulvar Cancer

Let’s walk together!

Cancer has taken several members of my family:  my Aunt, my Grandfather, my Grandmother, and several friends, co-workers, and acquaintances.  The truth is, cancer doesn’t just run in my family or yours.  Cancer can strike anyone, and does.

Let’s help the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre spread the work via social media through a OneWalk Shoe Selfie Twitter Party!  Please join the Twitter Party August 26, 2015 at 8pm EDT to show your support!
