The Samsung Galaxy S6 is pretty close to being the perfect media phone. TELUS provided me with a two week test of the 32GB option. It’s true, Samsung (S6) is among the top when it comes to smartphones. The Galaxy S6 has a sleek design; it has a metal band that’s added to a strong glass case … quality is echoed here. I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or not; however, the S6 looks very similar to an iPhone.
4G LTE Cat6
64bit Octa Core Processor
5.1″ Quad HD Super AMOLED
16MP(OIS) +MP
Wireless Charging Capable (Charging Pad Required)
KNOX Capable
32GB Memory (portion of memory occupied by existing content)
Both the speaker and headphone jack are located at the bottom of the phone. The layout of the buttons has also changed from previous designs. These differences can be seen as positive and/or negative depending on your likes. The back of the phone has two things that are a bit of a let-down. One is the case – it very easily gets fingerprints and smudges. Two is the camera, which sticks out and impedes the ability to provide a flat phone.
Having said all this, the screen display and resolution is perfect for media.
In my case, a lifestyle blogger working with brands across social media, having the S6 in my hot little hands is a dream!
I love the fingerprint scanner; it’s the best way to secure your phone. It also provides a way for you to have a backup password, should your fingerprint not scan correctly (think sunscreen on your fingers). I also like the fact that there aren’t as many pre-loaded apps on the S6.
There are also several useful settings and all are easily accessible through Settings.
As always, the call quality is excellent, as is messaging. That goes for both the S6 and the TELUS service. The battery life; however, is short. The battery pack in the S6 is actually smaller than previous phones; what makes it more frustrating is that the battery isn’t removable. [then again, how many people do you know buy an extra power pack? … by the time you need a new battery you’re probably ready to replace your phone!]
Overall, the S6 is a quality phone. The camera technology is outstanding! It offers rich colours, accurate auto focus, speed, and the ability to take great shots even in the dark. Play around with the different modes, and you’ll discover great and useful options. Of course, the selfie mode is still there! Don’t we all need to take a selfie every now and then? There’s beauty mode, wide selfie, and various effects. The result? Beautiful images.
PROS: power, excellent resolution, and sleek design.
CONS: price, and battery life.
In the market for an S6? It’s available at TELUS.

Not enough pros to make me want to upgrade. I’ll stick to my younger gen, Sammy. 🙂
