Making Children’s Drinking Water Safe with P&G
Disclosure: I am a P&Gmom/mamanP&G. As part of my affiliation with this group I receive products and special access to P&G events and opportunities. The opinions on this blog are my own.
Despite the pervasive effects of the global clean drinking water crisis, 56 per cent of Canadians do not fully understand the daily challenges that many in the developing world face. Over the past year, the P&G and Walmart Clean Water Initiative has sought to change this by educating Canadians about the dangers of contaminated drinking water and encouraging them to give back to the one billion people around the world who must contend with it every day.
The P&G and Walmart initiative set the goal of donating 25 million days of clean drinking water to those who need it most by March 31, 2015.P&G donated the equivalent of one day of clean drinking water for every participating P&G product purchased at Walmart or Walmart.ca. The not-for-profit P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program (CSDW) provides clean water using P&G Purifier of Water packets. One of these small packets quickly turns 10 litres of dirty, potentially deadly water into clean, drinkable water.
P&G is pleased to announce that, through the generous support of Canadians, we have surpassed the program goal, raising over 25 million days of clean drinking water for children and families in need around the world.
As a P&Gmom blogger, I (and my fellow P&Gmom bloggers) have played an integral role in this success. We have helped spread the word to families nation-wide by engaging in two very successful Twitter Chats. We have fostered a culture of giving by participating in the Clean Water Family Challenge. We have encouraged Canadians to reflect on the importance of clean water during the Clean Drinking Water Photo Challenge; and we have showed our readers, across the country, that a little giving can go a long way. I am so honoured to have played a role in this important effort.
P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water ambassador Jason Priestley wants to express his gratitude to Canadians – including the P&Gmom blogger community – for the time, energy and resources we have contributed to make the P&G and Walmart Clean Water initiative a resounding success. I would like to join him in thanking each and every one of you for your generous support. Please watch this special message: http://bit.ly/1Ct2jym
