Monday Mumblings – January 19, 2015

Last week was an adventure. Aside from getting my daily call from the long-term care facility telling me about a crying fit or hysteria, this time around (on Thursday) My mother lashed out and was actually considered “violent”!

Yup; this is getting interesting! My mom must have been triggered somehow and she then threw plates, cups, and even a knife (that missed someone)! At one point she punched a nurse in the stomach.

I was called, and advised that she was transferred to a hospital. Of course, I went to see her … I stayed there the whole day. Calming down my mom wasn’t easy but I managed. It seems that her ‘moment’ was brought on by the urinary tract infection that she had. She had just started being treated for it; she had taken three doses.

What’s interesting is she couldn’t remember what she had done.

  1. Hugs, as I was reading your post, my first thought was what is medically going on. UTI’s can cause confusion, so totally understandable. I hope the staff show compassion and empathy to her.
