@HP celebrates Earth Week all year long!

HP is doing great work to lower the environmental impact of printing throughout the year and around the world and is proud to be recognized as one of Canada’s greenest employers for the 7th year in a row. HP’s environmental initiatives are part of HP’s Living Progress strategy. A few of these environmental sustainablility initiatives are listed below.

Green from the inside out

HP designs its printing products with the environment in mind – from energy efficiency and fewer chemicals, to recycled materials and products designed for recycling. So all you need to think about are the perfect prints!

Green on the road

Every product shipped by HP in North America uses a SmartWay approved transportation provider; SmartWay trucks consume an average of 18% less fuel than conventional class 8 freight trucks, which goes a long way to conserve our natural resources.  http://www.epa.gov/smartway/

Return, recycle and be green

HP Planet Partners offer free, easy and environmentally-responsible HP Original ink cartridge recycling in Canada and around the world. And did you know that in 2012, HP used 18.7 million pounds of recycled plastic to manufacture new Original HP ink cartridges, keeping 469 tractor-trailer loads of plastic from going to landfills? Through a process called “closed-loop recycling,” facilities such as Lavergne Group in Montreal, QC, help HP process old ink cartridges into new Original HP ink cartridges. A key part of this process uses plastic from recycled water bottles. Recently, HP’s “closed loop” recycling process was listed as one of the top 15 sustainability projects in Canada!

Print green

The HP Everyday Paper line in North America is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), a not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. Examples of FSC-certified HP products include HP Bright White Inkjet Paper and HP Everyday Photo Paper.

Green is the new smart

Useful online tools like HP Smart Print can be used to reduce the amount of wasted prints. Smart Print is a printing application that allows you to print just what you want. It will select an initial print-worthy area and format the print output appropriately so you save both ink and paper – no more orphan pages! Also, the HP Carbon Footprint Calculatorhelps you understand the impact of your PC use and discover new ways to reduce your carbon footprint.
