Rule #3: Make Flavor Your Focus. S.A.S.S. — the fifth piece of the puzzle (above) — stands for Slimming and Satiating Seasonings: vinegar, citrus juice or zest, hot peppers, tea, and herbs and spices. These five additions not only add flavor to the meals without excess calories or sodium, they are scientifically proven to maximize your body’s fat-burning furnace and are rich in antioxidants, which have been linked to lower body-fat levels, even without dieting.

Upon reading the S A S S Yourself Slim – press release, I was super excited to receive my copy … the sooner the better! When I received my copy, I found that there were a couple more items that were included in the package: one 28gr California Almonds pouch, one 4 oz. Dark Chocolate Almonds pouch, and a cute little pink tin from California Almonds that shows you exactly what a serving size of almonds is … 23 almonds / day. I really felt like I was equipped with the power to change!
I was surprised to see how really casual the book is set up. It wasn’t ‘clinical’ or intimidating in any way. This book equips you with easy-to-prepare recipes … they’re easy to follow, and include simple ingredients. I enjoyed reading the book because of its’ easy flow … it was like listening to a friend telling you what you need to hear! Nothing complicated or difficult about it.
I like how Sass has explained, in detail, the symptoms to watch out for (in stages) so that you can conquer emotional eating … I’ll be using them extensively for sure! Without a doubt, people who are happy tend to eat more healthfully, and the opposite is true for those who are not happy.
A benefit, to me, is the short nutritian program, designed for real lives and vegan friendly alternatives too! I’m not vegan; however, more plant-based meals is something I strive to include in my life. Overall, fresh, whole, natural unprocessed, and organic foods are what we should all strive to include in our diets. I’m really looking forward to trying out the Mediterranean Broccoli Couscous Platter … mmmmm! What I love the most about Sass’ plan is that chocolate is allowed! Quite frankly, chocolate is something that I could not, nor would not, ever exclude from my life! Yes; we are encouraged to eat 50 – 100 calories of at least 70% dark chocolate. There are only two rules: (1) eat your chocolate without any distractions, and (2) let the chocolate melt in your mouth, and savour every bit of it. Simple, eh?
Sass even devotes a chapter to walking! It’s easy to do (goodness, you know how to do it), you can do it anywhere, you can do it year-round, and there are no rules to follow! The benefits of walking are too many to list here; what’s important to note is that it’s essential to “bust through” that excuse “I don’t have time”! Three 10-minute walking sessions is just as beneficial as on 30-minute walk.
