Days Before the Birthday Party

Somehow this year I have totally gotten off course!  My daughter’s birthday is on the 25th of this month (that’s a Monday).  I usually plan her birthday party for the Saturday after her birthday; that is to say or on her birthday … if it happens to land on her birthday.   I have never planned her birthday party to be before her birthday, but this year I have no choice.  If I plan the party to be on the Saturday after her birthday, it would land on Easter, and that just won’t do!
So, this year, my daughter’s birthday party will be the Saturday before her birthday … I don’t like the idea.  I’m kind of superstitious … you just never know; why jinx it?  Why would you celebrate a birthday before it?  I don’t know, I can’t explain it.  Suffice it to say I’ll be nervous about the whole thing throughout the whole party.
I’m left scrambling to prepare for what feels like a last-minute party!  Of course I knew the birthday was coming but really believed that I had more time.  Nuh-uh; I’m not going to stress about it.  My daughter will soon be 15 years old … that’s a ‘big girl’ for whoever looks at her!  Sleep-overs are still cool, so that’s what it’ll be.  In fact, a sleep-over spa party is even better!   Throw in pizza, chips, pop, and movies …. with games, prizes, and loot bags with “spa stuff” for everyone … and VOILA we have a birthday party!!!  Oh yeah!  Gotta love it!

Imagine how I feel this year… my son turns 18 on the 30th of this month. Yup on Easter.
I’m lucky he’s old enough to decide what he wants to do, all I have to supply is a cake and gifts. He will be gone in the evening with his girlfriend doing god knows what… but that works for me at this age.
Hope you have a nice time with your DD and her party!
