Last night my daughter came home with her friend, and a cat. No; not our cat … just a cat. Apparently, in the friend’s building, a woman took this cat by the scruff and threw him out saying “I don’t want it anymore!”. The girls, devastated by what they had witnessed, decided to bring home this mistreated feline in hopes to have us adopt him.
Granted the cat is cute; however, he is only skin, bones, and fur! He is so light, you can barely feel any weight when you pick him up. The poor thing was starving! He ate 3 scoops of cat food in one sitting!
Our boy, Jake, wasn’t the keenest of keen on having a new cat around but I’m sure he’ll survive. Long story short, avoiding a repeat of tears, we’ve decided to give it until Monday morning to decide whether or not Jake is accepting. If not then we’ll have to surrender the cat to the no-kill shelter. If yes then we’ll have to get him neutered and checked out for fleas, ear mites, and his general health.
In the meantime, we’ll also have to pay a visit to the previous owner to make sure she truly no longer wants her cat. Jake was rescue number 1; I suppose this new cat will be rescue number 2! We already have a name picked out (just in case!) … Jasper!
What would you do in our shoes?
Before you answer, have one last look at this super cutie … We’re guessing this new kitty is about (or under) one year old.

If the lady doesn’t want her and you do… then go for it!
He is meant to be yours – like children, animals select their owners and you have been chosen (or at least your children have) – that is how ALL of our cats arrived at our homes and they were the best pets EVER!
p.s. children don’t have owners – meant to say families – oh boy, see what lack of sleep does to a person?!?! xoxo
What a cutie..have a chat with Jake about sharing lol. He’ll adapt, just give hime time. Im guessing if Jasper was that small at that age, he wasn’t getting what he needed at his former residence, so taking him back might be risky. I know he’ll do well with your family. Good luck…
Oh my goodness sooooo cute ! He looks like a bigger version of my kitten. I say he’s a keeper ! And Jake will adapt. It may take 3 weeks or so, but they will become friends. Please keep us posted !
