It’s amazing what a small, kind gesture can do for the recipient. A smile? Gratitude? A feeling of self-worth? The knowledge that someone cares? I’m sure there are many feelings going through one’s body, when receiving an unexpected gift. What I love best is knowing that just a few words, something fantastic can happen! Let me explain …
While at the Blissdom Canada 2011 Social Media Conference, I met and connected with many Brands. It was amazing to see such a huge turnout. Yes, it’s true, social media is today’s marketing venue, and it is a great way to keep in contact with customers; however, it’s also a fantastic way to do some good!
The Step2® Company was the first company that I connected with. By the way, they ship to Canada now! Currently, the Step2® Company is celebrating their 20th anniversary; they are America’s largest toddler toy manufacturer of quality plastic products. I know that you’re familiar with them; we all are, you remember the ride-ons? Yes! Them! When my daughter was small, she had a ride-on and absolutely loved it. I miss those days; she’s now 13 years old … the only thing she drives is me …. crazy that is!! At the Step2® Blissdom Canada 2011 booth, on display, was a Push Around Buggy. Automatically, I thought it would be wonderful to be able to donate it to a mommy’s group through the Women’s Habitat.
For more than thirty years, Women’s Habitat has been providing shelter and support to thousands of women and their children fleeing violence. We incorporate a feminist analysis to our work. This means that the board, staff and volunteers of Women’s Habitat believe that violence against women can be stopped. We believe the only way to end violence is to support women’s equality and promote social change.
To provide a safe refuge, counselling, support and advocacy for women and their children who are fleeing violence; while also working towards a more equal society where the inherent value of all women is acknowledged and celebrated.

Follow The Step2® Company:
How truly happy I felt, knowing that their generosity would be so greatly appreciated by a ‘soon to be’ happy child. The Step2® Company, LLC, headquartered in Streetsboro, Ohio, is the largest American manufacturer of preschool and toddler toys and the world’s largest rotational molder of plastics. To me, they are so much more!
I can’t thank them enough, for their kindness and sincere generosity.
Now the fantastic news doesn’t end there. Another wonderful brand at Blissdom Canada 2011 was Fisher-Price™. While visiting their room, each blogger received a Swag Bag (Swag – meaning promotional items) to take home. Since my daughter is 13 yrs old, I have no use for the toys I received. Instead, I’ll be donating my swag to the Women’s Habitat. Without the help of Fisher-Price™, I wouldn’t have been able to do it.
This is what was in my Swag Bag:

I thank each company for the help that they’ve extended; I know that many will be happy because of you.
Last, but not least, UsedEverywhere.com was cleaning up their booth at the end of the show and had many canvas bags left over. They certainly didn’t want to take them back home with them, so they put them all in a box with a “FREE” sign on them … I couldn’t resist. They were also donated to Women’s Habitat.
You see, we can do some good with the help of Social Media!!
